IMO the only way China (or anybody else) is going to solve their fossil carbon problem is by hugely growing solar power. (And wind, I suppose, though I’m skeptical how scalable it is without climate issues.)

Which China (AFAIK) is well on track to do. I haven’t seen any info regarding Chinese power to gas/liquid fuel, but I’m guessing it’s also on track.
